PCHD says its VFC service covers eligible children from birth through age 18 who have Medicaid/KCHIP, no insurance or qualifying underinsurance.
The department says some vaccines are available for uninsured adults at no cost through special adult vaccine programs, depending on supply and program rules.
PCHD specifically says it does not provide typhoid, yellow fever, malaria or rabies vaccination for overseas travel. Use an appropriate travel-health provider instead.

Food inspections, septic systems, pools, rabies and property questions
Pike County Environmental Health handles much more than restaurant inspections. The official department page lists mobile-home parks, public swimming pools, on-site sewage systems, food facilities, school buildings and grounds, rabies control and environmental investigations.
PCHD inspects restaurants and other eating establishments. For a new business, change of ownership, complaint or permit question, contact Environmental Health before relying on another county’s rules.
Environmental Health provides information for new and existing on-site sewage systems. Bring the exact property address and explain whether the issue is construction, repair, failure or an existing system.
Rabies control is listed among the Environmental Health programs. For an animal bite, get medical care when needed and contact the appropriate local authority for reporting guidance.
Public swimming-pool inspection is part of the department’s environmental program. Operators should verify permit and inspection requirements before opening.

School nursing and Bright Smiles dental prevention
PCHD partners with Pikeville Independent Schools for preventive health services. School nurses provide screenings, prescribed treatments, chronic-disease case management and health education when required consent is on file.
Services may include acute and chronic illness screening, asthma/diabetes/allergy/epilepsy case management, health screenings and health education. Parents must complete the required annual consent before services are provided.
The school dental-prevention program lists cleanings, sealants, fluoride varnish, oral assessments, oral-hygiene instruction and nutrition counseling for participating K-12 students, with parental consent.
Birth records, vital statistics and medical records are different things
PCHD can help residents navigate Kentucky vital-statistics services, but a certified birth/death certificate is not the same as a clinical medical record. Hospital charts, clinic notes and lab results belong with the provider that created them.
Kentucky’s Office of Vital Statistics maintains statewide birth and death records dating from 1911. Use current Kentucky ordering instructions for certified copies.
Kentucky central registration for marriage and divorce records begins in June 1958. Older records may require a different local records route.
If you need a patient record from care provided by PCHD, ask the department how to request your own health information. If another hospital or clinic treated you, contact that provider instead.
