Fresno County Public Health phone numbers, records, vaccines and local service help
If you’re in Fresno, Clovis, Selma, Reedley, Sanger, Kerman or one of the county’s rural communities, the right public-health phone depends on what you actually need. The main switchboard is useful for general routing, but birth certificates, vaccines, Environmental Health, TB, STI services and family programs each have their own desk.
Use this guide before driving downtown to Fulton Street. It separates county public-health services from hospital medical records, WIC agencies, emergency care and other county offices so you can start with the right place.
What does Fresno County Department of Public Health handle?
Fresno County Department of Public Health handles county-level public health work such as disease prevention, immunization services for eligible residents, birth and death registration, Environmental Health, Public Health Nursing, emergency preparedness, health education, community health, epidemiology and mobile outreach.
County vaccine programs, birth/death records, Environmental Health, communicable disease, TB, health education, public health nursing and emergency public-health response.
Your hospital chart, prescription refill, ER bill, personal diagnosis or a private physician’s medical records. Contact the healthcare provider that created those records.
Call 911. The department’s emergency-response lines are for public-health and environmental incidents, not a replacement for emergency medical care.
Fresno County Public Health phone numbers by service
One number does not cover every service. Use the direct program line when you already know whether your issue is a certificate, vaccine, environmental permit, TB question or family-health referral.

How to get the right Fresno County public-health help
Decide whether you need a certificate, vaccine, TB/STI service, WIC office, food complaint, permit, well/septic information, nursing program or emergency reporting.
The main switchboard is useful when you truly do not know the program. Otherwise, calling the direct desk usually avoids another transfer.
These differ sharply by program. Immunization eligibility, certificate charges and Environmental Health permit fees should never be assumed from another county.
Depending on the task, that may mean photo ID, a vaccine record, proof of relationship, a notarized certificate form, facility information or property documents.
Use official Fresno County or California government pages for payments, certificate orders, vaccine records, permits and public records.
Fresno County birth and death certificates in 2026
FCDPH Vital Statistics registers births and deaths occurring in Fresno County and issues certified copies for records it maintains. This is different from medical records from a hospital or doctor’s office.
| Record | 2026 fee | Fresno County rule | Where to start |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birth certificate | $31 | Event must have occurred in Fresno County; local Vital Statistics retains records for 2 years. | 559-600-3310 |
| Death certificate | $26 | Event must have occurred in Fresno County; eligibility rules apply. | 559-600-3310 |
| Fetal death certificate | $23 | 2026 fee increase applies from January 1, 2026. | Vital Statistics |
| Older than 24 months | Verify | Use the Fresno County Recorder instead of FCDPH Vital Statistics. | County Recorder |
Vital Statistics is at 1221 Fulton Street, 1st Floor, Room 128. Bring valid picture identification and be prepared to sign the required sworn statement.
County guidance lists the birth/death application plus a notarized Certificate of Identity. Use check or money order payable as instructed; do not mail cash.
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with a lunch closure from noon-12:30 p.m.; closed major holidays.
Fresno County vaccine clinic, eligibility and immunization records
FCDPH’s Immunization Clinic is not a general walk-in pharmacy. The county currently limits clinic vaccination services primarily to people who meet Vaccines for Children or Section 317 eligibility rules.
Current county criteria include Medi-Cal, uninsured status, or American Indian/Alaska Native eligibility.
Current county criteria include uninsured adults and underinsured adults whose insurance does not cover the vaccine or requires a copayment.
The county directs many of these patients to their healthcare provider, community clinic or pharmacy instead of the FCDPH Immunization Clinic.
| Clinic item | Current published detail | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Appointments | Patient care Monday, Wednesday and Friday. | Call 559-600-3550 to schedule. |
| Limited walk-ins | May be available; county encourages callers to check first. | If accepted, current guidance suggests arriving around 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. on patient-care days. |
| Patient care hours | Mon/Wed/Fri 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. | Tuesday and Thursday currently have no patient-care hours. |
| TB skin test | Current county page lists eligibility at age 18 or younger and fee of $8.08. | Return 48-72 hours later for reading or the test may need to be repeated. |
| Immunization record | California Digital Vaccine Record can provide CAIR-reported vaccine history. | Use the official California DVR portal. |
TB, HIV and STI services use different Fresno County programs
Do not assume one clinic handles every test. FCDPH maintains separate TB and HIV/STI program routes, and the Chest Clinic has narrower eligibility than a general primary-care clinic.
Call 559-600-3413. Fresno County says the Chest Clinic treats active TB and TB infection connected with current TB exposure and investigation.
The Chest Clinic directs most people needing routine employment or school TB clearance to their primary-care provider rather than treating it as a general clearance clinic.
Call 559-600-6404 for the current testing schedule. Fresno County notes that testing locations and times can vary.
Restaurant complaints, permits, wells, septic and Environmental Health
Fresno County Environmental Health is one of the department’s broadest divisions. It covers food safety, inspections, water surveillance, land use, liquid waste, pools and recreational health, body art, hazardous materials, housing issues, rabies-related programs and other regulatory work.
Call 559-600-3357. Have the business name, address, visit time, food eaten, symptoms and relevant dates ready.
The Environmental Health division is using the Fresno County Citizen Portal for electronic permits and billing. Existing businesses should use the email already tied to their county account when possible.
FCDPH published an Environmental Health fee schedule effective April 1, 2026. Check the current official schedule before budgeting or paying.
Environmental Health issues well-construction permits in applicable unincorporated county areas. Incorporated cities may have their own requirements.
Land-use and wastewater rules can involve both Public Health Environmental Health and Fresno County Public Works and Planning. Call before buying, building or altering a rural property.
Fresno County’s Solid Waste LEA says septic and grease pumping businesses require local permitting; program questions are routed through 559-600-3271.
Rabies and animal-bite reporting in Fresno County
Fresno County says animal bites that break the skin must be reported. A vaccinated animal can still trigger the reporting requirement, so do not skip the report just because a dog or cat is current on shots.
Seek medical care after an animal bite. Your healthcare provider determines whether treatment to prevent rabies is needed.
Fresno County provides an electronic bite-report process and program phone routing. The department’s current rabies page lists 559-600-3200 for assistance with the report.
WIC in Fresno County is not one main Public Health counter
This is an important local distinction. California’s WIC system lists multiple Fresno-serving WIC agencies rather than one FCDPH WIC desk at 1221 Fulton Street.
California’s WIC agency directory lists the Fresno program phone as 559-457-5828.
The California directory lists Fresno County Economic Opportunities Commission WIC at 559-263-1150.
Fresno County maternal-health resources list the California WIC help number as 1-800-852-5770.
Public Health Nursing, pregnancy programs and home visiting
Fresno County Public Health Nursing provides voluntary health support and home-visiting programs for qualifying families. The county’s general Public Health Nursing Program includes short-term home visits for children ages 0-17 with certain developmental or behavioral concerns and pregnant residents.
Families can be referred by doctors, hospitals, social workers, community agencies or may self-refer. Main program phone: 559-600-3330.
Supports qualifying low-income first-time mothers through nurse home visits during pregnancy and until the child reaches age two.
Fresno County lists 1-800-640-0333 or 559-600-7191 for community health and human-resource information/referrals.
Fresno County Mobile Health for rural and agricultural communities
Fresno County’s Mobile Health Program is particularly relevant in a county where residents may live far from downtown Fresno. The program says it provides medical services at no cost to agricultural workers and residents of rural and disadvantaged Fresno County communities.
559-600-6409. Ask where the mobile unit is scheduled and what service is being offered at that stop.
Mobile schedules, partner services and available care can change. Check the official program page before traveling to a scheduled community stop.
Public Health records requests vs personal medical records
FCDPH’s News and Media section provides a Public Records Act route for public records maintained by the department. That process is different from ordering a birth/death certificate and different again from requesting your private medical chart.
Use the Fresno County Public Health Public Records Act route for appropriate public records held by FCDPH.
Use Vital Statistics when you need a certified Fresno County birth or death record within its local retention window.
Contact the hospital, physician, clinic or healthcare system that provided your care. FCDPH’s public-record portal is not a replacement for a provider’s medical-records office.
When to use Fresno County public-health emergency numbers
Fresno County’s Office of Emergency Services lists its Environmental Health Emergency Response Team for incidents such as hazardous-material spills, food or waterborne illness investigations, rabies control reporting, pesticide exposures and sewage spills.
Emergency Response Team: 559-600-3271, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Fresno County lists 559-600-3111 for after-hours public-health response routing.
Call 911 for emergencies involving imminent danger to life, property or safety that require police, fire or emergency medical response.
